JGTO Abroad: Hoshino trails by five shots heading into finale of Porsche Singapore Classic

Rikuya Hoshino will head into the final day of the Porsche Singapore Classic with a five-shot deficit to make up after carding a third-round three-under-par 69 on Saturday.

Hoshino traded five birdies with two bogeys at Laguna National Golf Resort Club to keep himself within striking distance for a second DP World Tour victory following his Qatar Masters triumph last month.

Hoshino's eight-under 208 total placed him in joint 13th, five shots back of Australia's David Micheluzzi, who fired a 66 to lead by one shot from English pair Andy Sullivan and Sam Bairstow.

As it stands, Hoshino will remain second on the Race to Dubai standings, but he will continue to pursue the top spot aggressively.

Masahiro Kawamura finished the penultimate stage as the second-best Japanese competitor following an improved bogey-free 67.

He left it late to strike all five of his birdies in the final six holes, propelling him from 62nd to a share of 26th spot on 210.

After barely surviving the cut, Nakajima also made his way up the leaderboard, shooting a round of 69, the best of the week, to climb to joint 44th on 212, 18 places higher than his starting position.
